His wife heard him and got the car jacked up enough to get him out,, but he still has 5 broken ribs and some staples in his scalp, and some swelling around his face. He also has a new respect for how to properly secure a vehicle before laying under it. Experience is the best teacher and yes, he was very lucky. Hes taken a lot of crap from all of us at work. I only see some stands, possibly, up front upon a second look.

I echo that Danny.
A bunch of years ago I needed to do just a "quick" job of hooking up the pipes to the collectors on my 70 hemicuda. No jack stands required since it was only a 5 minute job----or so I thought.
On my creeper, I connected the Drivers side, then without getting off it I rolled around the front to do the Passenger side. I went to pull myself under the car by grabbing the frame rail. This was enough to rock the car just enough to place a side load on the hydraulic jack 20 year old piston seal & it blew. The car came down like RIGHT NOW. It's a good thing I didn't have my head under it yet, only my shoulder & arm. The car nailed my shoulder hard enough to break the creeper wheel.
Leason learned---the hard way, but also the lucky way. A split second later, it woulda bounced off my head. Ever since then I never go under a car for even a quick job without jack stands.
