Not paying a lot of attention, but just musing, based off Travis' groupings, if it was up to me I would pair 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, etc, although .08 spread isn't much....just a thought
Looks like fun to me....heck, 4 time trials among fellow class racers with a good "house" is more ego-trip than most NHRA events Anyone understand the arm drop? Do you go (or when are you supposed to) on first muscle twitch, or when the arm comes all the way down? or..... Who decides on "red light"? |

If there is a question as to who jumped the arm drop they do a instant slow motion replay and they can determine who jumped.

Hey Buff, the slow cars haven't been ruled out and I'm gonna push that they aren't. Although slow bracket cars are boring as hell to watch, IMO slow stockers aren't. I'll never forget the first time I saw Tom Reider's "Horse Sense" Pinto and still amazed whenever a W/S launches like a low 12 sec car. Slow stockers have character.

In about a week I"m going to load up my slow, boring, bracket car (no offense taken Gary)
and head for P.O.A. at Crandall. Will take the old motorhome, spend a bunch of money, jump through hoops for the SPEED/PULLIN staff.Probably get pissed at Rich, and wont stand a chance in hell of making the 16.But it will be different.I will see and meet some racers who couldnt get past the first round of a "real" race if theyre lives depended on it.But they really get fired up for PINKS. I"ve been racing a little while now, have a few wins (Brackets) put 2 kids in race cars.Have a son who is a 2009 D4 champ. So sometimes I find myself getting just a little too Elite'st or comfortable with it all,and P.O.A. is just about the right medicine.Just like a good ol Friday night test and tune.---And if I see my car on T.V. for 1/10th of a second will be all worth it. |

Hey Everett I hope your car is quicker than 12.99 LOL!! By slow I meant 15 & 16 second cars. 12s aren't fast, but certainly not "slow"

The negativity displayed here is WHY we may someday have really expensive bracket cars! Look at the BIG picture. Exposure is EVERYTHING. PERIOD.
If your car doesn't get picked, so what. 16 cars will get picked and 16 car will represent S/SS racing. S/SS racing doesn't quite pack the stands in an NHRA / IHRA event. Or have all the spectators left for a few seconds to get a hot dog when the photographer took the pictures? Remember, in Hollywood, the only bad press is NO PRESS. Not getting your car picked may be against your ego just as much as getting picked will stroke your ego. Suck it up, sometimes everybody doesn't get to play in the sandbox! Do you have to register now for something like the 11/20/10 Phoenix race? I don't even have my car half way done but I would pay the $60 today. ****z, this is a bigger incentive than anything I've had in a long time. I could like the chance at $18K. My engine builder / chassis guy might get more motivated as there is a big sticker of his on the side of the car. So yea, let me know if you could what the registration process is like. Thanks for taking the initiative!

How does pinks sustain stock and super stock futures? This is not class racing it is not even close. People will never grasp the concept of class racing if you change the format from the way it is done now. Also everybody on here needs to understand. THIS IS FOR ARM DROP LIVE NOT PINKS. No TV time, No big press, nothing. The fan base is alot smaller and there hasnt been any mention of what the purse would actually be. Talk to Rich and ask him the chance of a show with even 12.5 cars or slower and watch him laugh. He will be the first to tell you that doesn't excite the crowd enough. It is all about the dollar to Speed and Rich just like to NHRA. Of course Rich says put on your Sundays Best and we might get a show but in reality that is a very slim chance. Especially if you run slower cars. Has anyone thought to ask why some of the tracks have dropped the PINK ALL OUT show from their format? Why don't you ask Pat down at No Problem. Maybe he can give some insight. People say this will bring more calss racers to our side however, If you have the chance to build a car that runs 10.0 with nitrous for 4K or a stocker that runs 10.0 for 50K which one will you choose? C'mon man. All this will do is say to the HRA's that our class wants to compete in heads up no rules racing so why keep them around. You are hurting the class instead of helping it. Somebody also said that seeing their car for 1/10 of a second on TV is worth it. Worth what? I would rather have a chance at 10K with no TV than spend entry and expenses to say hey if you dont blink you can see my car on tv and then explain that my car wasnt good enough to get picked to race for the money while some other guys junk was.
