What does the combo that can be run in the car I race have anything to do with roller lifters for flat tappet stockers? Is that the new tactic/redirect?
You know I still have my Firebird, and I don’t have 1/10 of the parts that you guys are allowed in your Chevrolets, so I really don’t want to hear about which fair and what the car came with then so on. I’ve been around this game a decent amount of time, I’ve seen the progression that your engine family has gone through from where it came from. Barry anytime you build something is the best of everything and always very fast. I applaud you. Thanks for bringing up the availability of parts. Why don’t you try to find out what the leadtime is on a set of Jesel keyed lifters for a big block Chevy and cost while you’re at it. Because I’m sure when the roller lifters are allowed, that’s the lifters you will be buying for your engine. Keep pushing for super stock, rules and parts and one day that’s what we’ll all be racing whether we like it or not Quote:

There is a guy up in Massachusetts that has an orange Camaro, quite famous in fact. He is faster than all of us and he has basically your combo. I think he is run 60s in B so you may want to take that post and rework it a little.

OH, and Yes I am getting older by the hour and would really like to race ( a little) instead of constantly searching, researching and waiting months for parts. The wait for parts has really gotten out of hand. No body stocks anything. Last edited by Terry Cain; 08-18-2023 at 10:04 PM. |

Duane, your son is a good kid, and he is learning to run Stock the right way. Like most of old timers did. Buy what you can afford to and work on your car yourself and see how fast you can make it run. I would assume he has a mild cam compared to what's out there today. The problem with running a car in a popular class that way you won't survive to many heads-up races. For me it cost too much in time and money to attend these races and I don't wish to bring a knife to a gun fight. Although it will never happen, I would be in favor of bringing the duration rule back. Would save a lot of motors. I bet not many running Stock would even know how to check duration. BP

Yes, Doug IS a good young man. I just hope that we (collectively) don't ruin him.

My car was stored for 26 years and 4 years ago started to update the car somewhat (call me stupid). Well bodywork, paint, trans, converter, the list goes on. So decided to put it in C/SA from B/SA. Can't run with those anymore. So it's a 63 Max Wedge wagon and got to the motor (flat tappet). New Bullet cam $760, tool steel DLC coated lifters $1600, pushrods, etc, etc. Ready for the dyno. My point is I don't want a rule change now to roller lifters after all the money I have spent. Just my opinion. Have read most of the posts on this and there are good reasons for and against a rule change.

We have done everything we can do to avoid problems. Never know. Will put it on the dyno at Line Performance, can't ask for a better place to do it. I can't wait for a rule change that may never come. Retired, that's why it took so long. Bought this car in 1976 at the U S Nationals. Part of the family now.
